IDEMIA joins the European Smart Energy Solution Provider (ESMIG) Association

IDEMIA has become an ESMIG (European Smart Energy Solution Providers) member under its pledge to help bring about a flexible energy market, a net-zero carbon economy, and sustainable consumption habits.

ESMIG represents European companies which provide products, information technology, and services for multi-commodity metering, display and management of energy consumption, and production at consumer premises. These products and services enable better outage detection, customized tariffs, accurate bills and a precise overview of consumption, and manageable demand.

In line with European Commission smart meter deployment guidelines, IDEMIA is providing the energy sector with smart meter connectivity and security which includes subscription management and M2M SIM cards.

For instance, in December 2020, IDEMIA announced it would be one of the key partners helping Telefonica UK (O2) securely connect smart meters to 23 million UK homes by 2025. To date, this collaboration has already supplied M2M SIM connectivity to 4 million UK homes equipped with smart meters.

As an ESMIG member, IDEMIA will bring its expertise and actively contribute to ensuring a trusted and competitive European energy market by participating in the development of architectures and open standards so that innovative energy management technologies and goods and services can be efficiently rolled out and adopted. This will be key to Europe’s future in terms of smart energy and water systems.

Participating with ESMIG will provide better insights into the challenges and opportunities facing us in the smart metering market and bring us closer to our customers and utility companies in need of turnkey connectivity solutions.
