Through products and services that make the world more equitable, secure and better connected, forming close relationships with local communities as an employer and corporate citizen, and encouraging innovation, IDEMIA is intrinsically linked to society. IDEMIA welcomes and encourages relevant local community initiatives and focuses in particular on supporting education, young people, and the uptake of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
IDEMIA works on encouraging community action at our local offices and factories in ways that positively impact the neighbourhood, help those in need, and contribute to environmentally friendly initiatives.
Recent community actions that IDEMIA team members have participated in include:
At a global level, IDEMIA is focused on launching a group initiative in 2021 based on education that is geared towards youth populations. In accordance with the UN Declaration of Human Rights, IDEMIA upholds the fundamental right to quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all boys and girls, in the knowledge that a solid foundation and ongoing opportunities can lead to decent work and improved quality of life. Yet today, access is not equally available to every young person. Through our group initiative, IDEMIA will contribute to the global effort to create a world where everyone has equal opportunities, to harness the technical skills and knowledge at our disposal in order to empower young people to grow their skills and competencies, provide employment opportunities, and support our partner’s mission.
SDG 16 calls for a legal identity for all people. At IDEMIA, we believe that an enhanced, adaptable, strengthened and self-sovereign identity creates a safer world for everyone. That’s why we are proud to contribute to the United Nations General Assembly’s ambitious goal to provide ‘an Identity for All’ by 2030. One way in which we do this is by contributing to the implementation of an Open Standards Identity API (OSIA) interface that enables identity management for governments. Such systems have already been deployed in Guinea and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
