IDEMIA Secure Transactions Delivers Secure Physical Transit Card for Denmark’s Public Transport Ticketing Operator

IDEMIA Secure Transactions (IST) has partnered with Denmark’s nationwide public transport ticketing provider, Rejsekort, managed by  Rejsekort & Rejseplan A/S in collaboration with regional transport authorities and national transport operators, to deliver a new card-based ticketing solution—Basiskort. The project supports the country’s digital transition while ensuring that millions of passengers have seamless access to public transport across Denmark.

As part of Denmark’s goal to digitize its public transport system, Rejsekort & Rejseplan A/S, is making strides to transition to digital ticketing solutions. This transition is in line with the national mandate to enhance digital services and ensure seamless mobility for commuters.

However, some commuters prefer to remain offline when commuting, while others require non-app-based solutions. With new regulations discouraging smartphone use for children under 13, physical travel cards can become the default travel solution for some passengers.

Certain passenger groups face additional challenges in using app-based ticketing solutions, including elderly users and people with disabilities. The Basiskort travel card features a tactile blind notch along its edge, allowing visually impaired users to easily orientate and use the card.
