IST’s Industrial Transformation for Sustainability & CSR

Yves Portalier, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer at IST, outlined IST’s roadmap for reducing carbon emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3.

  • Scopes 1 & 2: Minimizing emissions from IST operations by leveraging renewable and alternative energy and reducing water consumption.
  • Scope 3: Creating collaborative dynamics with our suppliers and encouraging shared responsibility across our ecosystem.

IST’s Sustainable Offering for Mobile Connectivity

Frédéric Moreira highlighted how IST’s products and services drive carbon reduction.

IST’s track record includes:

  • Launching the first half SIM format in 2012
  • Introducing recycled materials in 2021
  • Achieving 25% recycled-material SIM shipments in 2024

A major milestone is APOCa (A Plug On Cardboard card), the first cardboard-based SIM card support, offering verified biodegradability.

Bridging Connectivity Suppliers and End Users

Alexis Trichet, VP Strategic Data and Customers Insights at Orange France, presented the successful collaboration between IST and Orange France, driving progress towards net zero emissions by 2040. Both companies partnered to produce the “Green Welcome Pack”—a more sustainable, simplified kit that reduces Orange’s carbon footprint and reinforces CSR integration throughout its operations and marketing.

Environmental Claims and Trends in TMT (Technology, Media & Telecom) Markets

Marc Halgand, Senior Sustainability Manager at SE Advisory Services, provided a broader industry view. He stressed the growing importance of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and highlighted the telecom industry’s shift toward renewable energy and eco-designed products to reduce environmental impact.
