IDEMIA Secure Transactions Launches its First “Made in France” Marked Payment Cards

The authorization, granted by the French customs authorities, confirms that cards produced and embedded at the IDEMIA Secure Transactions Vitré site meet the regulatory criteria required to display this designation. The marking will be available for payment cards issued from the Vitré site for banks across France and Europe, testifying IST’s ability to provide locally manufactured, highly secure payment solutions at scale.

A first deployment with Crédit Mutuel

The first cards bearing the “Made in France” mark produced by IST will be issued in partnership with Crédit Mutuel, a long-standing customer. The initiative reflects the bank’s focus on supporting the French industry while maintaining high standards of security and reliability for its customers.

An industrial site designed for performance and more sustainability

The Vitré site is one of the most advanced payment-card manufacturing facilities in Europe and a key pillar in IST’s strategy to strengthen a resilient, more sustainable and sovereign European value chain for secure payment technologies. Inaugurated in 2024, it was designed to enhance operational performance while reducing energy consumption by 20% compared with the previous site. The building has obtained the BREEAM “Very Good” certification, reflecting the environmental standards applied to its design and operation. IST’s strategy of locating production sites in key regions around the world also makes it possible to avoid substantial emissions linked to long-distance freight transport.
